Acceptable Use Policy
Draft for legal review — not yet in effect.
This draft reflects the CSRise Corporate Impact Operating System. It replaces the earlier crowdfunding and escrow text and must be reviewed by qualified Nigerian counsel before it is published or relied on.
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) sets out the rules for using the CSRise platform (“Platform”) by Customer Users, implementing-partner Users and any other users (“Users”). CSRise is software that helps companies govern CSR spending and keep evidence of outcomes. It protects the integrity of approvals, evidence, payment records and the audit trail. CSRise does not hold or move money. By using the Platform, Users agree to follow this Policy, our Terms of Service and applicable Nigerian law.
2. Eligibility and Account Verification
Users must:
- Be at least 18 years of age and authorised to act for the organisation they represent.
- Use the account they were given. Customer Users are added by their Account Owner. Partner Users join by invitation from a Customer that has approved their organisation. There is no public registration.
- Provide accurate, current and complete information, including organisation registration details and due-diligence documents requested by the Customer.
- Keep their information up to date.
A Customer may decline to approve, or may withdraw approval of, a partner. CSRise may suspend an account whose information is inaccurate or suspected to be fraudulent.
3. Permitted Use
The Platform may be used only for lawful, transparent business purposes, including:
- Preparing, approving and tracking CSR mandates, allocations, projects and milestones.
- Submitting, reviewing and approving evidence.
- Authorising, recording and reconciling payments made by the Customer outside the Platform.
- Reporting on and auditing the Customer’s CSR portfolio.
4. Prohibited Conduct
Users must not:
- Submit false, forged, altered or misleading evidence, identity or registration documents, or reuse evidence from another project as if it were new.
- Misrepresent the purpose, beneficiaries, delivery or cost of a project.
- Circumvent approval thresholds, separation-of-duties rules or other controls, including by using more than one account to fill roles that must be held by different people on a payment, or by sharing credentials.
- Record a payment that did not happen, or a bank reference or receipt that is false.
- Use the Platform to conceal the source, destination or purpose of funds, or to support money laundering, terrorism financing or any other financial crime.
- Attempt to see another Customer’s or partner’s data, or data outside their assigned projects.
- Interfere with, disrupt or attempt unauthorised access to the Platform, its systems or other Users’ accounts.
- Upload unlawful content or content that violates the rights of others, including unlawful personal data about beneficiaries.
5. Evidence and Payment-Record Obligations
- Implementing partners must submit accurate evidence that matches the milestone’s acceptance criteria, and answer clarification requests honestly.
- Do not replace approved evidence. Submit a new version, which is recorded beside the original.
- Customer Users must act only within their delegated authority, and must record reasons for approvals, rejections and exceptions.
- Finance Users must record payments accurately with the bank transfer reference and receipt, and verify reconciliations independently.
- Everyone must cooperate with reasonable requests for further information.
6. Monitoring and Enforcement
CSRise may monitor the Platform for security and misuse. Where a violation is suspected or confirmed, CSRise may, at its discretion:
- Request additional information or documentation.
- Restrict or suspend a User’s access, or pause activity on a project, pending review.
- Notify the affected Customer.
- Terminate access.
- Report suspected unlawful activity to relevant authorities.
Because CSRise does not hold funds, it does not freeze or release money. Any payment decision remains with the Customer.
7. Disputes and Appeals
A User who disagrees with a CSRise account decision, such as a suspension, may appeal through the in-platform appeal process. Disputes between a Customer and a partner about evidence, milestones or payments are raised through the Platform’s dispute workflow and decided by the Customer under its own process. CSRise administrators cannot approve milestones or authorise payments.
8. Reporting Violations
Users who become aware of a violation of this Policy, including suspected fraud or false evidence, should report it to support@csrise.africa. CSRise will review reports and take appropriate action.
9. Changes to This Policy
CSRise may update this Policy to reflect changes in our services, legal or regulatory requirements or industry practice. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
