CSRise Technology Ltd — Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: August 2026

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") sets out the rules that govern the use of the CSRise platform ("Platform") by donors, campaign organisers, beneficiaries, and any other users (collectively, "Users"). CSRise is a Nigerian CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) crowdfunding platform that connects individuals, businesses, and NGOs to verified social impact projects. This Policy exists to protect the integrity of the Platform, safeguard donor funds, and ensure that campaigns and disbursements are used only for their stated, lawful purposes.

By registering for or using the Platform, Users agree to comply with this Policy, our Terms of Service, and all applicable Nigerian laws and regulations. CSRise reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate access for any User found in violation of this Policy.

2. Eligibility and Account Verification

Users must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age, or a duly registered organisation (NGO, corporate, or otherwise) acting through an authorised representative.
  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration, including identity documents (e.g., ID type/number, date of birth) for individuals and registration documents (e.g., CAC/registration number, tax ID, governing documents) for organisations.
  • Complete CSRise's organiser verification process before creating a campaign or receiving disbursed funds. Verification may include document review, bank account confirmation, and identity checks, with manual admin review where automated checks are inconclusive.
  • Promptly update any information provided if it becomes inaccurate or outdated.

CSRise may decline to verify, or may revoke the verified status of, any User whose documentation is incomplete, inconsistent, or suspected to be fraudulent.

3. Permitted Use

The Platform may be used only for lawful, transparent, and legitimate fundraising activity, including:

  • Creating and promoting campaigns for genuine social impact causes, including education, healthcare, community development, and related charitable or CSR-aligned purposes.
  • Making donations or contributions to campaigns in good faith.
  • Communicating with donors, beneficiaries, or CSRise support in a lawful and respectful manner.

4. Prohibited Conduct

Users must not use the Platform to:

  • Create or promote fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading campaigns, including misrepresenting the purpose, beneficiary, or intended use of funds.
  • Solicit donations for causes that do not exist, that the organiser is not authorised to represent, or where funds will be diverted from their stated purpose.
  • Engage in money laundering, terrorism financing, or any other financial crime, or use the Platform to move funds on behalf of a third party in a manner designed to obscure the true source, destination, or purpose of funds.
  • Upload false, forged, or manipulated identity, registration, or proof-of-fund-usage documents.
  • Use the Platform to collect donations for illegal activities, hate speech, discrimination, violence, or content that violates Nigerian law or the rights of others.
  • Attempt to circumvent CSRise's verification, fraud detection, milestone, or disbursement controls.
  • Engage in abnormal transaction patterns designed to evade monitoring, including structuring donations to avoid detection thresholds.
  • Use another person's identity or payment details without authorisation.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt unauthorised access to the Platform's systems, data, or other Users' accounts.

5. Campaign and Fund-Use Obligations

Campaign organisers additionally agree to:

  • Use donated funds strictly for the purpose described in the campaign, and for no other purpose.
  • Where a campaign is structured into milestones, submit accurate proof of completion and fund usage (e.g., receipts, photos, or reports) before requesting release of the corresponding funds.
  • Cooperate with CSRise's review, verification, and fraud-monitoring processes, including providing further evidence of fund usage if requested.
  • Promptly disclose to CSRise and to donors any material change to a campaign's scope, timeline, or intended use of funds.
  • Accept that disbursement of funds is subject to CSRise's internal approval process and may be delayed, held, or declined where verification, milestone evidence, or fraud-risk review has not been satisfactorily completed.

6. Monitoring, Fraud Prevention, and Enforcement

CSRise operates automated and manual controls to detect and prevent misuse of the Platform, including risk-scoring of campaigns and withdrawal requests, velocity checks on unusual or high-value transaction patterns, and rate-limiting of sensitive actions. CSRise may, at its discretion:

  • Place a hold on funds associated with a campaign or withdrawal pending further review.
  • Request additional documentation or evidence from a User at any time.
  • Suspend or terminate a User's account, remove a campaign, or decline a disbursement where a violation of this Policy is suspected or confirmed.
  • Report suspected fraud, money laundering, or other unlawful activity to relevant regulatory or law enforcement authorities.
  • Cooperate with payment partners (including Paystack) and provide information reasonably required for compliance, risk, or regulatory review.

7. Refunds and Disputes

Donors may request a refund only where a campaign has not yet commenced (i.e., no funds have been disbursed or activity has not begun on the project). Once a project has started, donations are non-refundable, except where CSRise, at its sole discretion, determines that a refund is warranted due to fraud, misrepresentation, or a material breach of this Policy by the campaign organiser. Donors may raise a dispute through CSRise's in-platform dispute system, which is reviewed by CSRise administrators. Disputes may result in a fund hold, an investigation, or other remedial action against the organiser, but do not automatically entitle a donor to a refund once a project is underway.

8. Reporting Violations

Users who become aware of a violation of this Policy — including suspected fraud, misuse of funds, or a fake campaign — should report it to CSRise immediately via support@csrise.africa. CSRise will review all reports and take appropriate action, which may include investigation, suspension, fund holds, or escalation to relevant authorities.

9. Changes to This Policy

CSRise may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal or regulatory requirements, or industry best practice. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
